USAID BiH: APS on Conflict Mitigation and Reconciliation
January 25, 2011
USAID/Washington issued on January 25, 2011 a global Annual Program Statement (APS) for FY11 to solicit applications for projects on Conflict Mitigation and Reconciliation. Bosnia-Herzegovina is one of the eligible countries for organizations to propose projects for funding.
The purpose of this APS is to make significant strides in the overall goal for conflict mitigation, peace, and reconciliation in selected eligible conflict-affected countries. In addition, this APS seeks to contribute to USAID’s developmental objectives. “People to people” programs are one approach among many for conflict mitigation. This funding opportunity is intended to fund conflict mitigation programs with a people-to-people approach, and to derive lessons learned and best practices for future people-to-people programming.
USAID Bosnia and Herzegovina encourages applications that aim to:
- Increase youth engagement and empowerment and build relationships among youth of different ethnic backgrounds through joint project activities on topics of common interest;
- Promote tolerance, inclusiveness, openness, protection of human/children rights and non-discrimination in the education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina; and/or
- Support civil society activities which engage underrepresented groups and promote respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of BiH cultures.
All applicants are encouraged to apply innovative approaches in designing their project and to ensure involvement and engagement of as many as possible key stakeholders and decision makers in project activities. USAID strongly encourages submission by local organizations.
While this APS is open for 180 days from the date of issuance, Applicants should note that USAID plans one review process for all applications received by the deadline. Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. local BiH time on Friday, March 4, 2011. For specific submission requirements please refer to the attached APS.
You can find the FY11 APS and attachments at USAID Bosnia-Herzegovina website.
