Ambassador Meets with Brcko Students
01/31/2007
Around 20 students from Brcko District met with the US Ambassador Douglas McElhaney to speak about "The Future of Bosnia seen through the eyes of Brcko students." A majority of participants were former members of the Civitas Project Citizens teams that participated in the Brcko Summer Camps, together with current members or alumni of the Brcko Work Group for integration, initiated by Civitas, which has provided grassroots support for multiethnic education in Brcko since 2001. The students shared their views about how successful model of integration in Brcko can be blueprinted in the other parts of the country and how they see the future of young people in Bosnia. In open and frank discussion the Ambassador McElhaney conveyed the Embassy's strong support for education programs in general and expressed hope that some of the present students will soon run for offices, bringing a new vision for future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
