American Embassy Issues First Immigrant Visas
December 6, 2007
The U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo today issued its first immigrant visas since opening in 1994. Ambassador Charles English presented the first immigrant visa to Elmar Kiselica from Sarajevo. Kiselica will be immigrating to the United States to join his Bosnian American father. Ambassador English also presented the first diversity visas (popularly known as the "visa lottery") issued by the Embassy to Mr. & Mrs. Bakovic of Livno.
Because the U. S. Embassy in Sarajevo is now processing immigrant visas and Diversity visas, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina immigrating to the United States under family reunification or the Diversity Lottery program are able to avoid the inconvenience of a trip to Zagreb for medical appointments and immigrant visa interviews.
Information regarding U. S. immigrant visas is available on the Embassy's website: http://sarajevo.usembassy.gov.
