US–BiH Military Cooperation Day in Mostar

The United States Embassy in BiH, together with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized a ceremony marking the US – BiH Military Cooperation Day on June 5, 2008 in Mostar. US Ambassador to BiH Charles English, Vice Admiral Richard K. Gallagher, Deputy Commander, U.S. European Command, members of the BiH Presidency Haris Silajdzic and Zeljko Komsic, Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Nikola Spiric, BiH Defense Minister Selmo Cikotic, Commander of the Joint Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH Sifet Podzic, as well as representatives of the BiH Parliament, Federation and Republika Srpska government and diplomatic core in BiH attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Ambassador English expressed America's support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's path toward NATO and the need for continued defense reform. Following the ceremony, which included a joint US-BiH paratrooper drop and an F-16 flyover, the Ambassador and BiH Minister of Defense Selmo Cikotic signed a Memorandum of Understanding confirming continued funding of the International Military Education and Training program, worth over one million dollars a year.
