On July 11th, 2008, U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Charles English, delivered remarks at the ceremony marking the 13th anniversary of the genocide committed in and around Srebrenica in July 1995. Before the official ceremony, Ambassador English lay a wreath at the Potocari Memorial in honor of the victims and met informally with some of the families in attendance.  Ambassador English is the first U.S. Ambassador to be invited to speak at the event.  He was joined at the ceremony by his wife Patti, U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues, Clint Williamson and Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick.
