US Embassy Throws an “Election Night” Party

November 4/5, 2008

On the day of the Presidential election in the United States, the US Embassy in BiH held an “Election night” celebration at the BiH Parliament.

Over 900 guests, including government representatives, politicians, celebrities, journalists, opinion makers and political analysts, representatives of the diplomatic corps and others, enjoyed live music from the US Naval Forces Band “Flagship”, heard lectures and talks from Deputy Chief of Mission Judith Cefkin, Political Counselor Michael Murphy, BiH political analyst and expert Nerzuk Curak and Cultural Affairs Officer Ronald Hawkins.  A mock election was also held, with our guests voting Barack Obama as the future President of the United States of America.

US Ambassador to BiH Charles English opened the event, welcoming the guests and inviting them to stay and watch “as history unfolds.” Thirty-six media outlets and more than seventy journalists covered the event which included a live feed from BHT1 and FTV.
