Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg meets mayors from throughout BiH

October 23, 2009 

On Tuesday, October 21, 2009, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg met with eleven mayors (from Zenica, Tuzla, East Sarajevo, Posusje, Doboj, Bihac, Zepce, Sarajevo-Novi Grad, Banja Luka, Foca, and Mostar) and discussed with them the current political and economic situation.  During the meeting, Deputy Secretary Steinberg highlighted the deep commitment of President Obama and the EU to helping place BiH on a clear path to Euro-Atlantic integration, which is important for all of the citizens of BiH and for the stability of the broader region.  The mayors expressed their views on the reform process, as well as the Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations of BiH, and emphasized the importance of reaching a political solutions.
