U.S. Embassy Welcomes Return of BiH Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit From Iraq

11/29/05

The U.S. Embassy welcomes the return of the Bosnian and Herzegovina Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit from its deployment in Iraq. By removing the threat posed from unexploded ordnance, the work of the EOD unit has been indispensable in creating a safe and secure environment for the Iraqi people. BiH’s contribution to coalition efforts represents a clear transition from Bosnia's role as a security consumer to that of a contributor to international peace. The U.S. Embassy supports the evolution of the U.S.-Bosnian security relationship as evidenced by the signing of a bi-lateral Status of Forces Agreement during a ceremony marking the tenth anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords in Washington on November 22.
