Ambassador to Participate in Constitutional Change Talks

The U.S. Embassy announces that Ambassador Douglas McElhaney will participate in the constitutional reform discussions to be held under U.S. Institute of Peace auspices December 15 and 16. The U.S. Government is pleased that the eight major political parties involved in the discussions have all indicated they will participate in the December 15-16 session. We would also note that if the political leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina are to meet the March deadline they set for themselves in Washington, D.C. to finalize a plan for constitutional reform, they must engage seriously in these discussions and quickly find an agreed way forward.
