First Student from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Attend USNDU
06/16/06
The Embassy of the United States of America congratulates the BiH Ministry of Defense, which has sent the first student from Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend the U.S. National Defense University (NDU). The most prestigious Senior Service School in the United States Armed Forces, the NDU consists of the National War College (NWC) and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF). Its primary function is to prepare military and civilian leaders from the U.S. and other countries to address national and international security challenges, through multi-disciplinary educational programs, research, professional exchanges, and outreach. Each year, only about 60 international students are admitted to the NDU.
LTC Senad Kljajic will participate in a two-month International Officers Preparation Course prior to attending the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF) in August. ICAF's mission is to prepare selected military officers and civilians for senior leadership positions by conducting postgraduate, executive-level courses of study and associated research dealing with the resource component of national power, with special emphasis on materiel acquisition and joint logistics, and their integration into national security strategy for peace and war. ICAF awards its graduates a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy. The decision to extend an invitation to LTC Senad Kljajic reflects both the high quality of officers in the Armed Force of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the continued U.S. commitment to BiH's future.
