U.S. Ambassador to BiH Douglas McElhaney to visit Srebrenica region

On Wednesday, September 12, 2007 US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Douglas McElhaney will visit Vlasenica, Srebrenica and Potocari.

The following events will be open to the press:

09:30 Opening of Renovated School in Vlasenica
Venue: Primary School “Vuk Karadzic”, Vlasenica
Background: The United States European Command has provided $350,000 for the improvement of the school through our Office of Defense Cooperation. This demonstrates the continued commitment of the United States to the people of BiH, and the continued cooperation between the U.S. military and the government of BiH.  The renovation of this school will support the education of nearly 1,000 students, of varied backgrounds, who together form the future of this country.

14:30 Announcement of Renovation project of Potocari School
Venue: Primary School “Petar Petrovic Njegos”, Potocari
Background: The United States European Command has provided $300,000 for the improvement of the school through the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation.  We hope that this school reconstruction helps to encourage further reconciliation, emphasizes the right of return, and most of all, brings a brighter future for all the children of Potocari.
