September 27, 2007
From September 3-28, 2007 the United States Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (DOJ/ICITAP) in partnership with the United States Marshals Service (USMS) International Training Program presented two 14 day Advanced Investigators Techniques Training Courses for 61 investigators from BiH state level law enforcement agencies.
Through a series of lectures, discussions and exercises the investigators were presented with investigative tactics and techniques required to conduct surveillance of an identified target. During demonstrations, the USMS instructors placed special emphasis on identifying and utilizing the proper principles and procedures for planning and conducting successful different types of surveillance including stationary, on foot and vehicular.
This ICITAP sponsored training course was part of an ongoing effort by the United States Government to develop the organizational and operational capabilities of BiH state level law enforcement institutions under the Ministry of Security. The continuing adoption of more modern policing standards will assist BiH in securing its borders and being able to effectively repel extremist and terrorist elements. BiH law enforcement agencies will also be able to establish peaceful co-existence with its neighbors and contribute to global security through cross border coalition efforts. Finally these agencies will be capable of combating organized crime, trafficking and corruption that occur in BiH and throughout the region.
